3-2-1-action!

Making a movie requires ...well, what does it require actually? We don´t know yet, so therefore we are now making small "dummy-movies". It helps us get a feel on how people react when getting stuck a camera in fron of their nose, on how it feels to be behind that camera and on the topic itself. What is social innovation? Any ideas so far?
Here´s one answer of a around 50 year old woman: social innovation is the new structure by which many organizations are run now. More and more organizations are not any more hierarchically driven, but organized in a network-way. Small units organize themselves, sharing the same vision which makes the whole organization move in one direction. Example: a hospital she went to some weeks ago. There, for example the cleaning staff would decide on which kind of rugs to buy, because they knew which kinds worked best. They also new that they wanted to act according to the vision of the whole hospital, which might mean that they wil not by just the cheapest, but some that are produced in a sustainable way.
Or the cook would decide with his team on what will be for lunch next week, taking into consideration the patients that are currently there and their preferences, the season...everything. Everybody gets a say.
This way of organizing is new, it is innovative. And it makes everybody feel more respected and more motivated, so it has an even bigger effect. Maybe not on society as a whole, but definitely on a part ov society. So here we go with a first example of social innovation!
